Villa Chiopris

Villa Chiopris, the old aristocratic countryside mansion is nestled away where the plain meets the spectacular amphitheatre created by the Colli Orientali del Friuli, and where the cool breeze that blows from the north becomes mild thanks to the influence of the Adriatic Sea close by. Up until the end of the last century the estate belonged the Hausbrandt family, an important dynasty of coffee dealers from Trieste.
Thanks to its suitable position and dimensions, the villa was used as a military hospital during the First World War. Today Villa Chiopris has returned to it original splendour thanks to the Livon family, and is now a favourite retreat for those in seek of the quintessential atmosphere of Friuli.
Surrounded by lush vineyards, which produce a wine bearing the same name, the villa allows its guests to enjoy the rural pace, the peaceful settings and long forgotten attentions.
Villa Chiopris is the hub where different landscapes, flavours and above all people truly meet.
Each of our nine finely appointed en-suite rooms and three self catering apartments, are equipped with a minibar, air conditioning, a safe, LCD TV, telephone and WiFi.
Every detail of the interiors has been designed to have you enjoy the warm atmosphere of the old countryside mansion, and in morning you can choose to have breakfast either in the gardens or in the cosy dining room, which features original wooden beams and a large fireplace.

The ample and elegant meeting room is equipped with conference facilities and is an ideal venue for business meetings, seminars and congresses, and also enjoys a view on the age-old gardens.

Cabernet Sauvignon


Vineyard: located in the municipalities of Chiopris-Viscone and San Giovanni al Natisone

Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon
Type of cultivation: Cordon trained


Intense ruby red color, it has a herbaceous bouquet recalling fruits of the forest. On the palate it is tasty, full-bodied, with smooth tannins and a long finish.


The grapes are harvested by machine, and gently destemmed.


Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 23°C for eighteen days on the skins. There are then eight months of maturing in steel tanks at a constant temperature of 16°C. At the end of this period, the wine is bottled. There follows a further long period of refining in the bottle.


Drink with: white and red grilled meat, poultry, medium-aged cheeses.
Longevity: 5 -7 years.
Serve at: 16-18°C.
